In spite of the very dry conditions we had great birding on Monday and
Tuesday (Aug.26 and 27) including 7 different tern species...the Common,
Forsters, Caspian, Royal, Sandwich, Little and BLACK (2). All were seen
resting on the flats by the beach road and feeding along the ditch there,
right under our noses! Also counted 44 Oyster catchers on the oyster beds
right off the causeway leading into Chincoteague - by the public boat ramp.
With this good rain I would say go to Chincoteague soon if you can. Susan
