The Lynchburg Bird Club last evening at our regular monthly meeting on the
campus of Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg observed a large
congregation of swifts going to roost in one of the campus building
chimney's right about 7 PM. There were easily 300-500, and possibly
considerably more.
And regarding hummers, several members still have a few. One member in
Appomattox has a late date of October 11th, and Thelma Dalmas in Campbell
County has a late date from 1999 of October 14th.

Subject: [va-bird] Chimney Swifts
Saw and heard a flock of about 50 - 75 Chimney Swifts this evening around
6:45 or so flying over the Dumbarton Library parking lot and Staples Mill
Road in northern Henrico County. Anyone else still seeing this many Swifts?
