I still remember seeing Cerulean Warblers at Smith Switch Station on a fall
day several years ago. On another ride much further back, I got closeup views
of an American Goldfinch, an Indigo Bunting, and a Scarlet Tanager and was
pleased to cover the primary colors so nicely.
The area around Milepost 14 (I think) has proven to be Indigo Bunting Heaven
in some past years around the first week in June. I remember riding along and
hearing (and occasionally seeing) IB after IB off on the south side along the
stretch from the playing field west to the outskirts of Reston. Cheers,
