On Sunday morning, there were three chats singing and chasing each other
around in the Woodcock Meadow off the Hike/Bike Trail. Also of note were a
couple of flyover LOONS, at least 5 YB CUCKOOS and 10 SWAINSONS THRUSHES, a
BLUE GROSBEAK, SWAMP SPARROW, CANADA WARBLER, and NO.H2OTHRUSH. Relatively
few warblers other than yellowthroats no yellow-rumps at all, and only 2
BLACKPOLLS (although they were all over suburban neighborhoods on Sunday).
White Oaks has been relatively uneventful over the last week, with large
numbers of blackpolls, Swainsons thrushes (as many as seven), and red-eyed
vireos, and dribs of other things, none out of the ordinary. My last
WHITETHROAT was at my feeders on Sunday (I saw none at Huntley). The rump I
heard on my bike ride to work this morning may be my last of the season.
Perhaps one more good day later this week when the wind changes. Sigh.
