VA Birders,
Our first of the season Yellow-breasted Chat returned to our field this morning
here on Compton Mt. Later another bird club member and I went birding and
looking for Morels (mushrooms) here on the mountain. We found plenty of Morels,
and we were treated to a singing Cerulean Warbler about a mile from my house
along a dirt road, first of the season, singing American Redstarts, both male
and female Scarlet Tanagers, Hooded Warblers, Black-and-White Warblers,
Black-throated Green Warblers, Ovenbirds, a Blue-headed Vireo and a
Yellow-throated Vireo.
We also found a Pileated Woopecker and two singing Wood Thrushes.
Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
