I started out to refind Rob Simpson's Cattle Egrets. They were both at the same
spot at 2:30 PM today.
A short distance East of there, I came across a Loggerhead Shrike on the
powerline.
A good number Bobolinks were found at a few spots along the roads that are
directly West of the river (also, these areas are
directly West of the towers of Thompson WMA).
3 Warbling Vireos were establishing territories very close together at a spot
on the Shenandoah. Also at that spot were 3 male
Orchard Orioles sparring for whatever they spar for (I think I can guess).
Best treat while watching the Bobolinks was a lone Peregrine cruising the
valley.
After the dreaded rains let up, it turned out to be a great day for birding.
:-)
Biggest regret of the week was that more folks didn't get to see those
Phalaropes at Blandy - they were Awesome!
