The Cape Charles beach this morning has 8 Mute Swans in one flock (2 adults,
2 subadults, 5 juveniles), a very unusual bird here, particularly in such
numbers. Also present were 3 Brant, many Bufflehead, and small groups of
Black
and Surf Scoters. The weather is again dead-calm today. The local golf
course development ponds have Ruddy Duck, Northern Shoveler, Lesser Scaup, and
2
American Black Ducks. The Allen's/Rufous Hummingbird continues at 9 Randolph,
most recently seen 10 minutes ago.
An evening excursion to Cape Henry yesterday provided a glimpse of a
Hatteras-bound headboat that is likely to change pelagic birding's future
course in
this state and in North Carolina. Keep an eye on the water and the www for
more news!
