Observation start time: 09:15:00 EST
Observation end time: 17:15:00 EST
Total observation time: 8 hours

Site Coordinator: Gene Sattler

Observers: Christy Sattler, Nicky Fleshman, Gene Sattler

Visitors:
Nancy Cowden and the Ecology class of Lynchburg College saw a portion of
the afternoon push.

Weather:
Continued blessing of partly cloudy skies (55-95%) with sun, and as
yesterday NE 0-5 mph, with a high of 75 degrees F.

Observations:
Didn't arrive until 09:15 EST due to class, and first low kettling BWs
started to appear at 09:30. Just over a hundred birds in the next few
hours, then a lull the next hour, when I needed to return to teach a lab.
My wife and Nicky Fleshman ably covered the afternoon, however, and had a
repeat push of birds like yesterday, this one beginning a little earlier
at 12:45, just after I left, and petering out about 15:00, a little before
I returned. Maximum kettle 500 birds, but a prolonged stream of about 780
birds also. Flight line was just off the south side of the ridge, and
height of flight was 3.

R.T. Hummingbird (1), R.H. Woodpecker (1), Monarchs (104), Dragonflies
(14).
