Fluctuation between 15 and 80% cloud cover throughout the day with W-WNW
wind 0-8 mph; temperature 75-84 degrees F.
Observations:
Yesterday's morning trickle was today's dribble as our count closes for the
season. This was our second highest season total for Broadwings after last
year's 10,716, since beginning regular September counts in 1998. The five-
year Broadwing average is 6355. These were our first Mississippi Kites
for the count.
Blue Jays (26), Swallows (5), Monarchs (91), Dragonflies (34; predominantly
Green Darners).

Candler Mountain is located on the southeast edge of Lynchburg, VA, in
Virginia's Inner Piedmont. It is on a minor ridge that parallels the Blue
Ridge Parkway, 16 miles to the NW. The bare knob offers a 360 degree view
