[va-bird] Camping near Mt. Rogers

This weekend (6-24 and 6-25) my son (Phillip) and I hiked from Elk Garden
(Smyth and Grayson Cos, VA)
to near the top of Mt. Rogers (Brier Ridge) and camped. We had a fair amount of
rain, so that
limited the birds I saw. I recorded the following bird list.

N. Bobwhite 1
Chemney Swift 1
Hairy Woodpecker 2
N. Flicker 2
Blue-headed Vireo 7
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Am. Crow 7
C. Raven 3
Barn Swallow 1
Red-br. Nuthatch 6
Winter Wren 4
Hermit Thrush 2
Am. Robin 20+
Brown Thrasher 1
Cedar Waxwing 10+
Chestnut-sided Warbler 1
Magnolia Warbler 1
Black-th Green Warbler 1
Blackburnian Warbler 3
C. Yellowthroat 2
Canada Warbler 3
E. Towhee 5
Field Sparrow
Vesper Sparrow 4
D.E. Junco 10 (nest with 3 eggs)
Indigo Bunting 3
Am. Goldfinch 3

Notes:

Didn't hear any Verry's , allow between Elk Garden and Grindstone Campground is
one of the best places in VA
to hear them. I get lots of them thru there on my BBS route.

While at our camp site on the bald, I could hear (at one time) singing: Hermit
Thursh, Magnolia Warbler, Vesper Sparrow and Bobwhite.
Where else in the south could you do that in June?
