[va-bird] Cameron Run, Alexandria, 8/24

I would call my first extended trip to Cameron Run a success (I've stopped by
previously just for a few minutes). From 9-11 a.m., right at high tide, I
saw 12 species of shorebirds, totally approximately 285 individuals, as
follows:

Greater yellowlegs 40 (some still in pretty good breeding plumage) (few HY)
Lesser yellowlegs 105 (many HY) (total yellowlegs is accurate; split is
approximate)
Spotted sandpiper 1 (transitional)
Short-billed dowitcher 20 (15 HY)
Red knot 1 (HY) (nice to see it closer, feather pattern is really
interesting)
Semipiper 25 (at least one looked much like a western, see the plate of the
molting juvenile in the Shorebird ID Guide)
Western 5 (really pretty)
Least 25
Pectoral 45
Wilson's phalarope 1 (preening, later spinning)
Semiplover 2
Killdeer 15

Other birds of note

Great blue 2
Great egret 5
Snowy 10
Green 1
Kingfisher 1
Blue-winged teal 2
