Metz Wetlands, Neabsco Creek and Leesylvania SP yielded some good birds
this morning. A California gull was on the flats of Neabsco Creek
around 7:30 this morning (2/28), found by Kurt Gaskill. Also seen there
were 3 lesser black-backed gulls, a pair of bald eagles at a nest, lots
of green winged teal, a few common mergansers, and some wood ducks. The
Harris's sparrow was in its usual spot under the holly at Metz,
accompanied by tree, song, swamp, and white-throated sparrows. A fox
sparrow was near the fence. Leesylvania held a nice assortment of
waterfowl, including tundra swan, lesser scaup, ring-necked duck,
canvasback, and hooded merganser. Also in Leesylvania was a harrier.
