September 11 Wreck Island Natural Area Preserve Field Trip: Enjoy a day of
birding while exploring unique coastal communities on this pristine barrier
island that provides critical nesting habitat for a variety of shorebirds.
Observe restored submerged aquatic vegetation beds and an oyster reef sanctuary
and learn how natural forces area continually reshaping the island. Boats will
leave Oyster Harbor at 9 AM for the 20-minute ride to Wreck Island and return
at 2 PM. Bring a water/lunch/appropriate summer clothing/bug spray. Note:
This preserve is managed as a Natural Area; no public facilities are available.
