Howdy all,
The last week of banding has been dismal. Between the 22nd and the 28th of
March, the banding stations was closed two days due to rain leaving five days
we were able to band. Now for the really bad news! We only banded 17 birds
during those five days. Migrants are almost non-existant right now and most of
the birds in the area are already banded, meaning we are getting a lot of
recaptures. The forecast is for warmer weather which will hopefully push in new
birds and get the ones here on their way. Now if we can only get the wind to
quit blowing and the clouds to dry up a little, the banding station might be
able to catch a few more birds.
Below is the short list of the birds banded from the 22-28 of March
Prothonotary Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 3
Pine Warbler 4
Swamp Sparrow 4
Song Sparrow 1

By the looks of other postings, migrants are starting to trickle in. Hopefully
they will trickle into the banding station soon or I am going to start learning
how to knit!
Good birding to all!!
Cheers,
