Birders -
Where was everyone this morning? It was very busy at the monument with
lots of hustle and bustle and birds all over, many of which I just didn't get
on.
HOWEVER I did see a stunning adult male Connecticut Warbler, low down
in the grassy/bushy area for close to a minute. Also seen were:
Woodpeckers: DOWNY, RED-BELLY, FLICKER (lots, a small movement),
PILEATED and my first YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER of the fall.
Flycatchers: LEAST, TRAILL'S, PHOEBE and PEWEE
Vireos: RED-EYED, PHILADELPHIA and WARBLING
Wrens: HOUSE and CAROLINA
Warblers: TENNESSEE, NASHVILLE, PARULA, CHESTNUT-SIDED, MAGNOLIA,
BLACK-TRHOATED GREEN, BLACK-AND-WHITE, CONNECTICUT, COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT, and the not-to-be -missed DENDROICA PINUS.
Also among the usual were several ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS of all
sexes and ages.
The "show" stopped abruptly at 8:15. Don't know where they went but they were
gone!
Not too bad, but lonely. You folks missed some goodies -
