I did my annual pilgramage to MD Saturday to help in the C&O Canal Count.

Best birds were a Phoebe close to the river around the 7.5 mile mark and a
nice Female COMMON GOLDENEYE right at mile marker 8. Bird was swimming close
to shore at first, but then flew into the middle of the river. High water
washed most of the waterfowl downstream, so the COGO was a nice scoop...
Mile marker 8 is just downriver from the beltway bridge over the Potomac...
