Pardon the late posting. A single Red Phalarope was observed by Tom Armour and
me on Saturday (October 23) morning about 100 meters off the west side of
island 4 of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It was flying short distances
just above the waves into the north wind then landing to feed on the surface.
Simultaneously, dozens of Laughing Gulls were moving north just above the
phalarope.
