Hello VA-Birders,

Kurt Gaskill and I did a day trip to the CBBT and lower Eastern Shore to round
up a few specialty birds before they embark on their migration.  We began at
the CBBT and Fisherman Island, then moved on to the Eastern Shore NWR,
Kiptopeke, Magotha Road, Oyster, and a few other places.  A total of 87 species
were seen, and we didn't beat the bushes in any one location.

On the CBBT, we observed the 6 HARLEQUIN DUCKS, 2 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS, lots
of PURPLE SANDPIPERS, and the RED-NECKED GREBE. and a few WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS
among the other two.  We also saw the NORTHERN SHRIKE on Fisherman Island in
the same area as previously reported at two separate times while driving north
and south, as well as 3 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS in the median.

At ESVNWR, we were able to see the EURASIAN WIGEON among the other waterfowl,
as well as several SAVANNAH SPARROWS.

Kiptopeke offered several more WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS as well as some terriffic
photo opportunities of close Loons and Surf Scoters, among others.

Magotha Road showed its usual magic as a SEDGE WREN noisily flitted among the
vegetation, and a CLAPPER RAIL and a VIRGINIA RAIL were calling close to us.

Oyster held many WILLET, several LAUGHING GULLS, NORTHERN HARRIERS, and more
AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS.

In all, terriffic day to be birding!  A complete list follows:
