I went home straight from my last 3:00 PM class yesterday at 3:35 in the
rain I saw some big terns across from my condo in the lake, of course
binoculars in the car, I was standing in the rain watching this spectacle.
Then they crossed to the other lake behind my house and I waited hoping they
would comeback. One was upset with me and came down just a few feet away
and was making such harsh noises, and that's when I saw the color upclose
and the fish tail. There were 3 Caspians and a smaller one that stay on the
lake across the street but the bill color was more yellow, more like a
Royal, at one time I saw them one in front of the other. They went to the
lake behind my house, they would go down close to the water, but never saw
them catch anything even though that small lake is full of minnows and large
fish.
AT 4:12 they left and did not comeback. The weather was a fine mist, cloudy
and cool-65degrees. I decided to stay in the porch and had a yellow warbler
with his orange showing beautiful. The barn swallows came in 10 days ago and
are nesting on my porch, so exciting,!!!!! Elena Killian
