[va-bird] Bullock's Oriole, Loggerhead Shrike, Wood Ducks

Hi all,
My son and I stopped by the Vienna VA site and saw the Bullock's Oriole
around 1:00 today. It looks so beautiful in the sunshine. The head region has
a hint of orange as compared to the rest of the body. We then headed back
towards home via Fauquier county to look for (successfully) the Loggerhead
Shrike
that Susan Heath mentioned in her post (thanks Susan). We then looped past
the Harrison Rd and Belvoir Rd ponds. Then it was on to a very small pond off
of Rt 17 (county rd 688 "Leeds Manor Rd") were I believe we saw a Horned Grebe
in plumage transition. It was there last weekend also so maybe it's going to
hang
around awhile. Back on the road past the ponds on Rt 17 near Sky Meadows SP.
Then into Clarke county for a 2 mile Shenandoah River (Wood Duck row) cruise
before finishing off with a couple of more small ponds off of Shepherd's Mill
Rd.
 Had a great 3 hours.

Good Birding to all,
Matt Orsie
