[va-bird] Brown Thrasher in Arlington

We had a Brown Thrasher in our front yard Friday, thrashing in the leaf
litter under one of our hollies. My wife was sanding old paint by our front
door,
and she said the bird seemed to be curious and hopped up on a branch to watch
her. Unfortunately, I scared it off accidentally, and only glimpsed it once
more later, thrashing in our far back yard near where I've occasionally seen
them
before.

The yard birds seemed to become quite lively yesterday and today. We had an
influx of American Robins both days, and for a while we had about eight in
another holly, eating berries. We also had Hairy and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers
hanging out and the usual Blue Jays and MODOs. Finally, we had at least 2
White-Throated Sparrows that came out to bathe, which I don't see very often.
If I
didn't know better, I'd say the birds were enjoying the spectacular weather.

What I did not notice today was Kinglets - after hearing them a lot in recent
weeks, they either were gone or very quiet today.

Cheers,

A Brown Thrasher was seen this morning, feeding on holly berries on bushes
surrounding the ball-field at the north end of Wakefield Park (Accotink
Parkway).
