Greetings to all:
From about 0900 hrs to 1020 hrs on 09/19/04, I had about 50+ Broad-winged
Hawks migrating in a westerly direction through South Boston.
I first saw groups of two to three birds together and then about 0915, I saw
two large kettles of about 30 to 40 birds each to the north of my house. I ran
inside to get my scope and tripod but by the time I was able to set it up they
had moved on by. I saw that some of them were BW Hawks before I went for my
scope.
About 15 minutes later I counted a group of 15 BW Hawks together and more
groups of two and three birds together and then some single birds flying by
after that.
I also saw a Red-headed Woodpecker and had a Hairy Woodpecker to fly into a
pine next to my house.
Good birding always
