Greetings,
To add just a bit to the Hadlock's report...there were two Red-necked
Phalaropes at Raymond Pool on Tues. (5/28)! While I was watching one through
the scope around 7:45 a.m., another one flew in. A life bird times two in the
same scope view..pretty awesome. Apparently, both birds had been seen the day
before. The Curlew Sandpiper, in Shearness Pool, was close enough to give
great looks. Much better than last week's view from the Little Creek Tower.
I dipped on the Red Knots yesterday but saw well over 500 last week at
Mispillion/Slaughter Beach. I've never seen that many..quite a spectacle.
** Regarding the horseshoe crabs trapped in between the big rocks along Port
Mahon Rd., I would like to THANK Rich Rieger for all his hard work last week,
in trying to free some of these crabs that had become wedged between the
rocks. These crabs would have died a slow death so it was so heartwarming to
see them swimming back out after being rescued.
