I participated in the Fairfax Audubon Sponsored birdathon yesterday. My team
stopped at two fields adjacent to the old firing range at the former Lorton
prison where we tallied at least 400 Bobolinks and 9 Grasshopper Sparrows. The
fields are in a restricted area, but at the Bobolinks should easily be seen
from Silverbrook Road. The Grasshoppers may take some effort, but with some
patience, can also be seen from the roadside.
