[va-bird] Bobolinks, Grasshopper Sparrows & Red-headed WP, western Loudoun Co

This morning, about 7 am, I checked out Legacy Farm from Ebenezer Church Rd,
Rt. 779, for several species that I have seen there recently.

While I had to wait several minutes to observe them (& those of you who know me
know how hard that is for me) there were at least 3 male Bobolinks & 1 female
in the two horse paddocks. The males were no where near as active as they have
been previously but did fly to the wires, sing & do their display flights a few
times. The single female flew a short distance & quickly ducked back into the
grass in front of the utility pole.

I didn't hear the Willow Flycatchers this morning but did hear a couple of
Grasshopper Sparrows and saw & heard a few Meadowlarks (both of the latter are
common in this area).

There was also a Red-headed Woodpecker calling on Legacy Farm but way back from
the road (out of sight).

Yesterday morning I got great views of a singing Hooded Warbler on the
Appalachian Trail (AT) where it goes north from Rt. 605 (due west of Mt.
Weather) & the morning before there was, right next to the trail, a vocal
(alarm calls) Hooded Warbler on the trail that goes from the Snickers Gap
parking lot to the AT. There were, as always at this time of year, Worm-eating
Warblers on the AT off of Rt. 605. However, they are much less vocal now than
they were just a couple of weeks ago. All of the AT sites are in Clarke Co.
