[va-bird] Blue Ride Center Oct 25 -- Sparrow Country

9 birders, several from Out East (Fairfax County), joined in the
second monthly bird walk today at the Blue Ridge Center for
Environmental Stewardship in western Loudoun County. We birded the
northern portion of the Center including the Derry Loop and the
Farmstead Loop. The overgrown fields along the Derry Loop were
particularly productive. Highlights included a Vesper Sparrow (on the
heels of last month's Lark Sparrow), an Orange-Crowned Warbler, a
Winter Wren, a Great Horned Owl, and a Purple Finch. We identified 45

month.

The Center is private property of the Robert and Dee Leggett Foundation
and it welcomes birders and others who want to come out and enjoy the
land. Center staff asks that visitors call ahead, email Center
naturalist Fiona Harrison in advance, or stop by the administration
building off Rt 671 near the Neersville Fire House before entering
Center property. (540) 668-7640, or fharrison@xxxxxxxxxx Ms.
Harrison is happy to tell prospective birders more about the trails and
birding opportunities. She also invites you to become a part of the
