After attending a butterfly and dragonfly walk this
morning, I explored the park for a while by myself. I
heard a distant COMMON RAVEN and saw 2 vocal EASTERN
MEADOWLARKS. Interesting location for the
Meadowlarks, I wonder how common they are there.
Suburban sprawl from Fairfax Co. is expanding west,
taking over woods and old farmland. I guess there is
enough of the latter to support at least a few
Meadowlarks out that way. Also, NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS
were everywhere. This location is in Northeastern
Loudoun Co., N of Rte. 7, near the Va. campus of GWU.
