Birders,
Yesterday morning, Rosemarie and I birded Shenandoah Mountain in
Rockingham County, Rt. 924 and FS 85.
No luck with Canada Warbler, the objective of our trip, nor did we see
or hear Red Crossbills. However, on the west side of the mountain in
WV, we observed two Black-billed Cuckoos eating caterpillars in a Wild
Cherry Tree and displaying very amorous behavior.
Other birds of note were Blackburnian, Black-throated Green, Black and
White, Chestnut-sided, Yellow-rumps, Black-throated Blue, Hooded,
Worm-eating, Ovenbird, LA Waterthrush, Cerulian WARBLERS. Also close
up view of Rose-breasted Grosbeak and heard a Veery and Woodthrushes.
