This cooler rainy weather change really changed the bird population in my
yard. I just counted over 60 Am Goldfinches(starting to do their plumage
changes) and 28 Purple Finches at the feeders in my yard. In the far left
corner of
the back yard next to the wetlands is a group of 7-8 native Loblolly and Va
pines. As I was out putting more seed in the feeders just now, I heard a
singing
Pine warbler there. I saw what looked like the Pine Warbler and 2 nuthatches.
A quick look in the binoculars showed them to be 2 Black and White Warblers,
a male and female. I haven't checked my records but this seems earlier than
last year. I got to observe them for several minutes as they worked over all
the
trees. Looking out the window just now 23 robins just dropped into the trees
and yard.
