I went out to the Harrison Rd. pond this afternoon to check on the juvenile
skimmer and ran into Dorothy Tella, who already had the bird in her scope. The
skimmer was resting on the far shore so I thought I'd better walk out that way
to see if the bird could still fly. Yes, indeed, the bird is still capable of
flight! He flew around for several minutes without skimming and then landed
on the far shore to rest. I hope he can find his way back to the coast soon
because I don't know how long he can sustain himself there. If any of you go
out
in the next day or so to see the bird, could you please post about the bird's
condition? Thanks!
