[va-bird] Birds seen at Craney Island (Portsmouth, VA)

I and some friends went out to Craney Island this morning from about 0830 to
1200. It was a nice morning of birding. Some of the most notable species
were:

Black-necked Stilt
Least Tern
Gull-billed Tern
Royal Tern
Black-bellied Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Dunlin
Sanderling
Ruddy Turnstone
Willet
Horned Lark

We finally saw 2 Black-necked Stilts as we were getting ready to leave.
They were standing near the edge of the sand on the west side of the west
north-to-south road (close to the office buildings).

There were lots of peep along the northern-most east-to-west road crossing
road (with mudflats and marsh on both sides), but only one yellowlegs
(probably a Lesser, but it did not call). Most of the nearby peep appeared
to be Semipalmated Sandpipers.

The Horned Larks were seen on the high ground along the south side of the
lower road as it curves around the north end of Craney. We had good looks
at the larks, which were a lifer for some of us.

Writing this message causes me to realize the difficulty in providing good
directions around Craney.
