> Hello Va-birders:
22 birders showed up for the monthly bird walk at the Blue Ridge Center
for Environmental Stewardship this morning. Birding was remarkably
quiet today. We identified 31 species. Highlights were 5 ravens and
a Turkey Vulture mimicking a Cormorant drying its wings.
The low level of activity wasn't because of the quality of the birders:
we had loads of experts, including many from that hotbed of birding,
Fairfax County.
It wasn't the habitat: we split into three groups and covered large
areas of the Center's wonderful and varied terrain.
It certainly wasn't due to foul weather.
