On the message I just sent out I was cutting & pasting & apparently also had
the numbers from an earlier walk.
The correct message follows:
Yesterday morning 11 people participated in an Audubon Naturalist Society walk
at Banshee Reeks and the nearby Dulles Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project in
central Loudoun County. The walk was led by Joe Coleman assisted by Stan
Shetler. Permission was given for a small group to visit the Dulles Greenway
Wetlands Mitigation Project at first light prior to the scheduled walk.
A total of 73 species were observed.
The highlights of the walk were Virginia Rail and Sora on the Wetlands, Wild
Turkey, shorebirds on the Wetlands including Pectoral, Red-headed Woodpecker,
Prairie Warbler at both Banshee & the Wetlands, and a Yellow-breasted Chat.
Don't forget that there will be a bird walk at Banshee Reeks this Saturday
morning (5/8) at 8:00 a.m. led by Andy Rabin & meeting at the Visitor's Center.
