Gentle Readers,
Chris French led a group of eighteen birders this morning, 5/9/2005, at Huntley
Meadows Park on the regularly scheduled Monday Morning Birdwalk from 0700 to
1000. Although the warblers are still present in the Park, the appearance of
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds signals the rapid approach of summer. For a second
week in a row, Blue Grosbeak were seen at HMP. Large flights of Blue Jays and
also a flock of Bobolinks were seen over what remains of the Central Pond.
Central Pond is too grandiose for the name of the great muddy field, which is
all that remains of the abandoned beaver pond.
