Virginia Birders,
Fifteen birders showed up at 7 am for the regular 4th Saturday bird walk at
New Quarter Park sponsored by Williamsburg Bird Club and New Quarter Park.
Eight club members welcomed seven visitors: Frank and Pat Wilczek from the
Monticello Bird Club plus Kathleen Kellar, Christine Evans, and children
Frank (aged 10), Amy (aged 10), and Tom (aged 7) -- all from Gloucester.
Great to have kids along!
Bill Williams, from the club and W&M's Center for Conservation Biology, led
the walk.
32 species on a day where the winds increased over the morning and certainly
suppressed the birds.
Highlights of the day: one Forster's Tern flying over Queen's Creek headed
to the York River; five Winter Wrens; and a mature Bald Eagle flying
directly overhead towards the creek.
Complete listing from EBird is below.
The club and the park sponsor a bird walk every 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Next
walk is at 8:00 a.m. February 10:
