Virginia Birders!
The next regular bird walk at New Quarter Park near Williamsburg is this
Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 7:00 a.m. Bill Williams, Director of Education
for William and Marys Center for Conservation Biology and member of the
board of the Williamsburg Bird Club, will be our leader.
The cold front this week perhaps has blown in a few more water fowl and
we'll check Queens Creek and the York River for some new winter ducks. We
may hear owls before dawn. We regularly see 35 - 40 species. If you need a
Red-headed Woodpecker for your year list, there is a high probability we'll
see at least one. Often we see all six woodpecker species on these walks.
Meet by 7:00 a.m. in the parking lot next to the Park Office for about a 2½
hour walk around the park trails. (You can peel off at any time if your
schedule is constrained.)
The Williamsburg Bird Club and New Quarter Park in York County, Virginia
sponsor regular bird walks at New Quarter Park. The walks are open to the

This park is near Williamsburg, the Colonial Parkway, and Interstate 64.
Directions: From Interstate 64: take exit 242A (Route 199 West/Jamestown
Exit.) Take the Route 143 exit off of Route 199 (the first exit), turn
right onto Route 143 and follow it until you come to the first stoplight,
which is the Penniman Road intersection. Turn right onto Penniman Road
(Magruder Elementary School is on the left) and take the first left turn
onto Hubbard Lane. Stay on Hubbard Land for about a mile until you go under
an overpass just past Cobble Creek subdivision. After the overpass, make an
immediate right turn onto Lakeshead Drive. Follow this road until you reach
