After such terrible heat, whenever a cooler day dawned I began to see bird
movement in my yard .
Last week in July, small flock of blue-grey gnatcatchers, still here.
pair of prarie warblers
August 9 & 10 red eyed vireo
yellow warbler, 1st year I think , here
all day
scarlet tanager, youngster , still seeing
it almost daily.
scarlet tanager, male, alone.
August 16 Yellow warbler, very bright.
Most of these birds I do not see around my home except during migration.
Birds who seem to have left the area: brown thrasher pair and indigo
buntings.
Vist to very large farm pond (Gala Lake) which is drained in winter produced
a great egret,
green heron, great blue heron, kingfisher, blue grosbeak.
