Bob,
I read your message on the VA-Bird archives before I checked my email and
I assumed from it that you were referring to the Rusty Blackbird. This
was confimed when I opened up three other messages all telling me that it
was a Rusty Blackbird. I got carried away by the illustration of
"occasional female has pale eye" for the Brewer's Blackbird in Sibley,
but I guess that was not too far off.
It could have been singing the Marseilles for all I knew as I was
surrounded by every Grackle in North America outside of those in
captivity. It was like a seen from "Birds."
