Howdy all,
Thought the title might get a few people to take a look!
Yes, we banded a Bicknell's Thrush this morning! First one of the season. A few
lucky people got to see this bird up close for a hard to beat look at this
Gray-cheek look-a-like. It was the least common of the birds we banded today.
Of other notes, Brian Taber, while filling in at the hawk platform, saw 8
Purple Finches at the bird feeders near by. So after banding I went to the
platform to wait for them to show up again. Well no such luck, BUT while Brian,
Jen Ottinger, and I were waiting, a Clay-colored Sparrow made a few visits to
the feeder! Wow, what a nice day!
Other good birds banded or seen in the area today included Cape May Warbler
(banded), Wood Thrush, Veery, American Bittern, and many Blue-headed Vireos.
It was a cold but great day to be out and about. Tomorrow might be just as
good! At least we all hope!!
Anyway, here is the list of birds banded today!
