Yesterday afternoon at Ben Brenman Park in Alexandria, I saw a GREAT EGRET
on the causeway near the bandstand, no more than 15 feet away. There was
also a small flock of BROWN_HEADED COWBIRDS foraging in the grass and more
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS that I have ever seen at one time before--20 to 30.
Pictures of the egret (3) and cowbirds (1) can be found at:

For those who like buttterflies and dragonflies, they were abundant there,
too. If anyone can improve on my attempted identifications, please do so.
There are 32 images at:

Ben Brenman Park is located off Duke Street at the west end of Alexandria
where Cameron Station was once located (Duke & Somervelle Streets).
