Belmont Bay had large numbers (1000+) of Am coots, Ruddy ducks and Lesser
Scaup. There are also a few hundred Ring-necked ducks, one hundred or so
gadwall and lesser numbers of Canvasback, American Wigeon, Redheads,
Buffleheads, mallards, wood ducks, tundra swans and other waterbirds.
Pohick Bay was relatively sparse but there was a common loon there. The
Potomac off Riverside Park also had a common loon. There were still 6
Forster's terns hanging out at the hydrilla mats.
