[va-bird] Beaverdam Park - Gloucester County, Sun 4/29

VA-Birders,
We had an amazing birding experience at the south end (main entrance) of
Beaverdam Park today. The seven birders were: Dave Hewitt, Gene and Susan
Burreson, George and Rosemarie Harris (new to Gloucester but very experienced
birders we welcome!), Lee and Meredith Bell.

Several of us have birded this park regularly, and we all agreed this was the
best time we've ever had. It wasn't just the number of species (62), it was
also the quantity of these warblers:
9 - BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER
11 - B&W WARBLER
12 - BLACKPOLL WARBLER
10 - NORTHERN PARULA
97 (at least) - YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER

Perhaps there was a fallout from a storm the previous night. Whatever the
reason, we had lots of activity wherever we turned along the path.

We also had good looks at YELLOW WARBLER, YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, AMERICAN
REDSTART, OVENBIRD, PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and WORM-EATING WARBLER.

The Hampton Roads Bird Club's field trip on May 12 will be at this park. We'll
meet at the parking lot of the main entrance (at the end of Roaring Springs
Road) at 7:30 AM. Please join us if you can!
