VA Birders,
Today we had a "Mimid War" in our yard. Three Brown Thrashers and three Gray
Catbirds were fighting each other for turns at the suet feeder, while two Downy
Woodpeckers and a White-breasted Nuthatch watched from the sidelines. The
Thrashers finally won.
We don't get lots of Baltimore Orioles here on Compton Mt, except during
migration, so we were pleased to look out this evening to find a young male
bathing in our yard stream. He then sat in our cherry tree to dry off. Here is
