This morning, five hardy (or insert your own word here) showed up for the
regular Banshee Reeks Bird Walk. When we started at 8:00 a.m. it was 7 degrees
F. About 10:00 a.m. when it had warmed up to a balmy 12 degrees we paid a
visit to the Beaverdam Reservoir. On the walk, led by John Drummond, 24
species were seen at Banshee Reeks, another 8 were added at the Reservoir (the
heat waves off of the reservoir were quite a surprise).
The highlights were two Bald Eagles soaring over the Reservoir and about six Am
Tree Sparrows at the Preserve.
Also, Banshee Reeks is now open to the general public from 8 am to 4 pm on the
3rd weekend of every month (the 17th & 18th this month).
