Today while conducting the impoundment survey at Back Bay NWR in Virginia
Beach, Dorie Stolley and I observed three flocks of WHITE IBIS, all adults,
totalling 47 birds. An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON was also seen and a KING RAIL
and VIRGINIA RAIL were heard. Shorebirds included 25 Greater Yellowlegs, 1
Lesser Yellowlegs, 23 Wilson's Snipe, 9 Killdeer. Waterfowl included 151
Green-winged Teal, 4 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 11 Northern Shovelers. An immature Bald
Eagle, an Osprey, and 3 Northern Harriers stirred up the birds.
Cheers,
Bob
