Well, I've been out to Hog Island twice - once in a driving rainstorm and then
again today (8/24) and I've yet to see this (expletive deleted) bird. Terry and
I walked through the "holly tree" (does anyone think that thing is dead?) field
down past the spillway to the back end of that impoundment with two duck blinds
(this was suggested by the ranger who we ran into working outside one of the
houses). We had a very clear view, but saw neither pelican or sandpipers. Now,
we don't have a scope, so not seeing the SP doesn't surprise me, but if that
pelican was there I think we would have seen it. I'm determined to try again
next Sun. if anyone reports it during the week. Anybody want to meet me with a
scope? <VBG> *sigh* the things we do to get a lifebird.
Cathy
