VA Birders,
While I was in Richmond this weekend, Pat Blyer took me out to look for
the ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER along the Floodwall Walk in Richmond. We did not
find the bird Sunday afternoon, but just before we left, we met a couple who
had seen it. So, this morning, we went back to look for it again, and we found
it and had great looks at it about 10:30 am. The flycatcher was in the area
at the beginning of the canal along the walk. We saw it first on a small
orange stake along the embankment just below the railing of the walk, and then
it
flew across the canal and landed in a small tree, where we were able to get my
scope on it. Then, since we were on a roll, we went down to Chesterfield Co.
and saw the female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD coming to a feeder there, as previously
reported by Larry Lynch.
Good birding,
