Hi- On Sunday, Leni Friedman and I birded Virginia Arburetum--Blandy Farm. It
cleared off nicely and we met Charlie Hagan and wife Judy out on the trails.
These are the birds we saw:
Fish crows 5
Tree Swallows
Cardinals
Chipping sparrows
Field sparrows
Song sparrows
White-throated eating Dandelion seeds
House wren
Carolina Wren
Bobwhite (heard)
Brown Thrasher
Robins
Goldfinches
Grackles
Purple Martins Redwinged Blackbirds
Starlings
Bluebirds House Finch
Blue Jays
Chickadee
Towhee
American Crow
Mockingbirds
Also this morning at the lake here, I saw the Osprey flying over my yard. The
Towhee pair is back and the Bluebird box has 5 eggs in it. Just waiting now
for the Indigo Bunting , Hummers, and the redbreasted Grosbeak, and the
Catbird. The mockingbird is down in the valley, but not here on the mountain.
There
is a Moorhen on the lake as well as a Pied-billed Grebe. Buffleheads have gone.
