Today while conducting my breeding bird survey in Virginia Beach I found an
anhinga north of the bridge on Nanney's (or Nawney's) Creek Road just west of
the intersection with Mill Landing Road. This bridge is about a mile east of
the intersection of Mill Landing Road and Princess Anne Road labeled on maps as
Back Bay. The location is near C6 on page 35 of my DeLorme atlas of VA. The
bird was within 100 feet of the road and gave its rubberband twanging call as I
walked onto the bridge. If you go, please find a safe parking area and walk to
the bridge as these roads are driven by people not expecting to find a parked
car in the middle of the road/bridge.
