Sorry to sound like a broken record. I had 9 warbler species to close out
the month at White Oaks:
yellow-rump 15
yellowthroat 1
yellow 2
blue-winged 1
black-throated-blue 2
black-and-white 2
redstart 1
prairie 1
ovenbird 2
Also, firsts of the year included baltimore oriole, great crested, veery,
red-eyed vireo. Also ruby-crowned kinglet and phoebe.
Hard to go to work some mornings. The only way to make it bearable is to
leave early and go to Monticello. Jim Mathews, Philip Kline, and I saw fewer
birds but had nice looks at black-throated-blues and -greens, ovenbird, my
year scarlet tanager, a red-eyed vireo, a Swainson's thrush, and several
hermit thrushes. And yellow-rumps.
